Bug: HTML escape seqs show up in rep comments.
If you type, >, for example, in a comment, it actually shows up as > in the comment, because it gets changed to > at some point. It makes the comments kind of ugly, quotes and angle brackets are relatively common. Think I should whine to vBulletin or the rep module people (not sure if that's vBulletin as well) instead?
Edit: Actually " only seems to show up in the control panel, not in the profiles or the posts. But > and < show up everywhere.

I think it's what generally gets referred to as a "known feature", there were fixes put in because some ne'erdowells were hacking about with rep way back when ...

Quote:
That's weird; there's easy and common techniques for making sure that doesn't happen while text still appears correctly; it seems more like something got accidently double-escaped in the fixes somewhere. And it's inconsistent in some cases as well; such as the quote thing in the CP but not in the profile, which doesn't seem like it would have addressed all those vandalism issues to begin with. Oh well. |
