Deleting own posts

How come these forums don't offer users the option of deleting their own posts?

Because there have been problems with users deleting posts that contribute to the forum's knowledge base.

why would you want to that anyway ? some threads wouldn't make sense if one or two key posts were missing

As CJ mentioned, we have had issues wherein a user attempted to mass-delete their own posts due to being angry or frustrated with this community for reasons unknown, and we do not want such things to happen again. These posts, however, attribute to the knowledge base of the forums and aide others who may be searching with a similar problem.

If you need one of your posts removed, please report it or PM one of the moderators of that specific forum and we will do so if given very good reason (or edit it as needed, etc.) - for example, if private or personally identiable information is unintentionally posted, such as passwords, login information, or or the like.

Although, I've noticed at least one situation in which a disgruntled user (read we wouldn't hand him an answer gift wraped with a bow) mass edited all of his posts. Of course he was summarily executed (er I mean pbanned) but it made me wonder if the forum preserves an edit trail on posts so that they can be restored in cases of accidental (or not so accidental) mangling. If it doesn't I get that it would probably be a pain to add so no worries there but maybe something to tack on to that wish list we keep adding things to.
