You also have to remember that it's an exponential growth in rep too. As users get more rep, their rep power goes up, which means they give out more reputation points per agree, which means other people get more rep per agree. Make sense?

I think this is where this conversation is going, but I'll say it anyways. It was touched on with the dial-up idea.

Why not allow users to decide how much rep they want to take off, up to their rep power. Not just fixed 1 point, or max points, but have radio buttons from 1 up to their rep power. Or just a text box where they can type it in.

So if you have, say 16 rep power, you can take away/give anywhere from 1 to 16 points, depending on how much you like/hate the post.

If you guys want these hacks implemented, then submit the code. The code for the reputation system is publically available as far as I know. Get the code, hack in the extras and submit what changes need to be made to esupport or here for voting.

Sure, it'd be nice if DS could dedicate time to coming up with the hacks themselves, but time is money and I'm sure there are other priorities. Unless it's a simple change, you'll more than likely have to do the work... (or most of it).
