Do you want a "Community" section in User Control Panel?
Hey all, this is an extension of the thread here. Jcaputo suggested a poll so here it is.
The idea is simple. In each users Control Panel there is currently a fieldset with a number of fields for popular Instant Messaging applications. What I am proposing is a similar section for popular Community sites such as Facebook, Bibo, My Space, Tagger and so on. As with the current IM fields you can either use them or don't, it's just a fun extra thing to have in your profile to make it easier for others to find you on those sites. Other community sites
I would also recommend LinkedIn, Classmates.com, Bebo, ReUnion to the list.
The list below at wikipedia also lists the number of users on the sites. Which can also be good to know the site popularity that should be added. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...orking_websites

I personally don't want this. We have enough IM fields as it is, do we need twenty more social networking sites?
Moreover, while there is a point in talking over IM, don't see much of one in talking over myspace or whatever you people use.

I kinda agree with gimp on this one.
Where does the line stop too... I mean, I have accounts in probably 50 plus of these social networks. You get invited by someone, you join, you do nothing with it... I am currently only using about 3 or 4 of them (checks Orkut while typing), but really I think more people are against the Web 2.0 stuff than for it here... Orkut - perhaps as the are currently 31 Dev Shed members, Facebook - maybe 'cos it is trendy... MySpace - no way Tagger - wtf??? yamky - nice girls adultfriendfinder - alt.com - As the other Jamie said in the other thread, "Not sure how that would be beneficial"?? If others want it - fine by me though....

I'm not bothered either way. Personally, I don't see the need for it but if enough members want it and it's easy to implement then I don't see why not.
Although, I think it's going to take a lot more than 5 'Yes' to get it done.
