Dragging up old threads
A helluva lot of old threads have been dragged up of late, perhaps there is something we could do about it?
I was thinking how after I helped a guy in the perl forum he locked the thread because he no longer needed help. Perhaps we could just have it auto-lock threads not replied to for, say 3 months? Or something similar?

Not really a good idea methinks
As long as the post is relevant to a 3 month or 3 year old discussion, let it lie. If it's not, politely advise the new poster to create a new thread is what I'd be thinking

If they dig up old threads, it at least shows that they tried to search for a solution. Some thread necromancy is annoying indeed (e.g. replies to a thread by a person looking for someone to do some work for them) but I'd like to see more ``I've seen this thread, have tried everything in it and this is what happens, which isn't what I'm looking for'' posts, given the number of repeat questions that tend to pop up.
Incidentally, I don't know why the guy in the Perl forum locked the thread. I had something to contribute to that thread but if he doesn't want it, that's fine.

Some good points raised, but what in the hell were you thinking bumping a thread a whole day old?

Well sometime I create a thread it it becomes irrelevant for the time but say a couple months later it become relevant again.
Like Edwin said we have a good SEO and that's the reason I found devshed. Sometimes people are searching and find the thread, register and post in it without knowing the actual date.
