We have recently had a request to creat a new forum called Game Design.

I don't think so.
The programming foums are currently set out by language rather than purpose, which makes perfect sense.

Yeah, I say if you need help coding, go to the respective forum. If you want people to take a look at your game, post in the lounge, and hope it doesn't get deleted for spam.

or use the critiques forum.

perhaps we could expand that to include critiques on games, and actual website critiques, ie, ease of use, php codes, etc rather than more design as it is at the moment (or create a new or sub forum)...

I certainly agree with this suggestion. Game Design/Devlopment forum is a good idea for beginners to get started in game design What if someone dosent know any advanced language such as perl, php or c ? How will they know which to go for to create a simple game to get started? With this forum they may ask and choose which language is best and post any questions regarding Game Development.
I really thought this would be a good idea but now seeing that already 6 people voted against this and only 4 other voted for it ( now 5 counting me ) I dont think it will turn out to be a positive result in the end

I think a game design/development forum would be great, like the software design forum it doesnt have to be language specific.
