Games Forum?

Maybe Dngrsone will agree with me on this, but over at DevHardware they have a "Games" Forum. While we can all still discuss games in the Lounge, maybe inviting a special one will generate more support and encourage us to discuss gaming, both in the playing, and maybe even programming aspects, but games in general. I'm sure there's a few programmers out there that are making their own games, and it would be a good place to discuss gamin theory more than the coding of it.

Also, discussing good games, bad games, and everything inbetween . Even asking other gamers for help in a particular game. Since it would all be confined to one forum, it could be more openly discussed. I will take the liberty to offer my services now for moderation of this forum if you approve.

Any one else think this might be a good idea?

If you get some support for this and I see a bunch of posts here to this thread requesting a games forum Ill put it in, but we dont like to add forums to a already cluttered forums home page unless its wanted my the members.

Would it be unacceptable to post a thread in the lounge asking people to take a look at this?

I think thats fine - I would post it up as a poll or politely ask a mod to do it.

Can't you make a "forum" here that links to the games forum on DevH? That'd encourage some cross site traffic, maybe...

Well it looks like the votes are split so unless it was closer to 75-25 we arent going to add it.

Also yes I could add a link over to devh forums but again that would add to the clutter of devshed forums and Im afraid that would piss off the devshed regulars.

I doubt that. I think we'd be happy to send the gamers over to DevH, honestly.

Actually, i think it would be great to have a game forum here.. but i mean a general game forum that would rox

As of 9:45 EDT on July 25,2005 we are at a 60/40 split in support of said forum. I have proposed that those who have offered to moderate the idea get together and draft a set of guidelines as kind of a pre-proposal. There has also been suggestion of a trial period, which I think wouldn't be a totally bad idea, and, if worst comes to worst, could be used as evidence against a gaming forum in the future. I will post a link here to the guideline draft once it has been posted, if it gets posted.

While a test on devshed maybe possible I still think the 60/40 vote isn't good enough, I think we should keep the poll running longer to get a better idea. Also the ideas comming into the thread are great and we should continue with them.

Just so you are aware, while I voted yes on it, I'm now thinking that putting it on devshed might not be the best place for it. (thus my other thread and posts)
