Global DS account

Is it possible to register a global Dev Shed account, to use on all forum networks? I find it such a pain to have to register an account on each forum I want to post only once or twice on...

Would it even be possible to implement something like this?

Sounds good, but there are insurmountable logistics issues-- the Dev forums are actually separated-- they started as individual forums, were bought and brought into the fold, original membership attached. The lists of users, both active and banned, are different, and there are several cases where the same name is used in two different forums not by the same person.

There are members of DevShed, for instance, who are registered under entirely different names in one or two of the other forums.

Merging the membership lists between the five forums would be problematic, to say the least-- who gets the use of a name if tow different persons claims it? What about names that have been banned? Which name does the individual with different identities use, and how would the people who knows him know it's him?

Do we artificially inflate the member lists of the smaller forums? What of the mods, such as rep and membership (by postcount) status?

JC and the Fab Five would have to reinvent all the forums, I think, in order to accommodate this.

PS Let's not forget the blogs for the front-end sites... an entirely different ball of wax!

Sounds like a good idea, but can't see it happening to be honest. Plus, what if you are only a member at a couple of forums and not all 5 ? Would you instantly be a member at the ones you aren't already ??

Could have been a good idea in the beginning, but now I just see it as being too late. Far to many problems would arise, for little beinifit. I know I personally only visit this forum. I would gain nothing by being automatically registered at the other forums. I'm guessing that the vast majority of users (here, there, elsewhere) are like this as well. I could be wrong about that though.

No, you're right about that, I think. There are maybe a half-dozen universal members (outside the staff) that I am aware of, perhaps a few dozen who are members of more than two DevForums.

I'm signed up on all the forums but only have ever posted much at 4 of them , but now regularly I only post on 2 here and dev articles, need more time
