Guests should not be able to VIEW THREAD CONTENT..

What if I or someone posts sensitive info in a thread?
Like earlier I posted my hosts, named.conf and zone file.. seen 7 ppl were browsing that forum and noticed just me but 6 other guests!.. so to test if guests can actually see the info I logged out.. and SURE ENOUGH!.

please turn guest viewing threads OFF!.
I think it poses a security issue with EVERYONE who posts on this forum.

I dont think thats really a runner. Most people join devshed come along and lurk for a while, get a feel for the place and then join. Also if someone wanted to see into a thread they could easily set themselves up with a dummy account. If you need to post info that you consider a security risk, ask the people helping you if you can pm them the information (dont PM before asking mind you).

I think it should be left on. Because then they wouldn't be able to view a little content, thus giving them no reason to join. Would you join a forum where you don't know what you are going to see?

Exactly i looked around here before i joined, turned out i made a good choice, and registerring is free and public so its just about the same thing.....people you dont know view the message, and registerred people you dont know, view the message

I agree... as displeaser said, you can always PM someone if you need help using vital info, just ask them first. Then there's always the option of x'ing out the vital info like IP or domain or whatnot. People can get an idea of what the files look like, even if you don't post exact IP's or whatnot.

If guests weren't allowed, I probably wouldn't have joined, as also mentioned. I would have no reason to if I couldn't see what was available.

Regardless of who can look at this, or any other, forum - if you are worried about someone mis-using secure/personal information, what the heck are you doing posting it in the first place?
Assume I am a vile, nasty person who will make use of any and all information I can glean to make myself a total pest and security hazard to you: what part of me being a guest or a member in good standing makes any difference whatsoever?
