Html Programming
Sorry to be such a nuisance here in this forum, but in the index page, it has HTML Programming. Sorry but HTML isn't a programming language. It's a markup language. I think the name should be changed. Ignore this if you think your right.

I don't know for certain; but as I recall, the admins did a bunch of SEO tests and found that "HTML Programming" would bring them significantly more hits than "HTML Coding" or "Writing HTML" or similar alternatives. (As an aside, HTML includes Markup in its acronym, so having a forum named "HTML Markup" seems a bit excessively repetitive.)
Hope that helps. (And if any admins could verify/correct this information for me, it would be greatly appreciated.)

At the risk of opening a can of worms: I'm sorry but HTML is absolutely not a programming language. If, as coder mentions, the admins have a good reason to have the forum named the way it is, I won't quibble.

If true web developers would use google to search for a forum. Then they wouldn't use HTML programming as a keyword. Those are noobs who don't know the difference. The META tags could consist of HTML programming or whatever they want, but HTML programming forum title is misleading in my opinion. HTML is a markup language. W3C says so. Obey them all mighty

Ah yes, but it's not just aimed at "true web developers". Beginners are quite likely to use that in their search. On one hand, calling it "HTML Programming" aids them in finding someplace relevant and helpful. On the other hand, it perpetuates the myth that it's actually a programming language. I guess it's a judgment call the admins have had to make. |

Yay I think added Rep is needed for this powerful discussion.
Also if beginners would type HTML programming in, that could just be in the META keywords content part of the head. The actual part of the name "HTML Programming" could still be changed. |
