Latest post in "there have been postings" email
When I get the notification from my thread subscriptions, could they contain the post that was added?

Doubtful. Admins want you coming to the site to view the response...

It is strange as some do have the posts in the email and some emails don't. It really depends if the admins are smart enough to value usability or if the favour the "lets make things difficult or annoying for users to use our site" approach |

Perhaps a small portion of the post could work?

The admins make the site quite usable, and depend on advertising revenue for their income.
Look at it from a business perspective ... Some Do, and some don't - are you referring to the update e-mails?

If you have daily updates, they contain the postings. It would be nice for instants (but i barely use them so i really don't care)
As for ad revenue, well most revenue comes from visitors rather than regulars, i'd expect.

depends on whether they're pay per click, or pay per impression, the pay per click are more valuable, but there's a solid stream of revenue for pay per impression traffic through the network of Dev sites IMO

I make a point of not blocking ads and I actually click them in the rare event that one interests me and doesn't look completely retarded. I'll probably almost never buy the stuff they advertise, but I'm just not that opposed to reasonably unobtrusive ads. Clone 10000 of me with different interests and you'd probably have a gold mine.

I estimate that on average, I click one ad for every 10,000 pages I view. |
