Link Button

The link button in the Post a New Thread box seems to work for me in some forums and not in others.

In all the programming forums when I want to use the button above the text box to insert a hyperlink or wrap code tags, etc. My browser window jumps to the top of the page and I do not get a popup to insert a link and also no highlighted text gets wrapped in CODE /CODE tags.

But in this forum it works fine.

I just inserted this link with the Insert Hyperlink button, but I can't use that button in any of the programming forums.

My status bar at the bottom of my browser window shows "error on page" messages and there is a constant (1 item remaining) message there also with a link to pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/........

I am running IE 6.0.2800.1106

Any ideas whats going on?

for whatever help that may be.

Another user in the Perl Programming forum said they believed they receive the same symptoms if they do not let all the elements of the page load first.

I consistantly have (1 item remaining) in my status bar wherever I go in the forums.

I just tried to add a hyperlink with the hyperlink button and same problem. Browser window jumps to top of page.

So now I can't add a hyperlink or use any of the buttons in this reply when it just worked a bit ago in my original post.

Sounds like you either a. dont have javascript turned on or b. have some funky security settings on your browser set as no one else has reported this

Maybe folks just haven't said anything about it or just use LINK or type in their own URL= because here is a link to a post that another poster (I can't remember his nick right now) said they just wait until all the elements load for the page.

As you can see I can't use the Insert Hyperlink button again. Sometimes I can and sometimes I can't use it.

I cleared my cache, I do have Java enabled, do not have any popup blockers enabled, etc.

If it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't then I couldn't imagine which setting I may have funked....as I haven't changed any settings...

Any other ideas?

I tried it on a Win 2K PC, two different Win2K Advanced Servers and a Win XP Professional computer and they all did the same thing.

I will see if it does it on two other computers I have at a completely different location and connection to the internet and see if it also happens to them.

I've run into that problem a couple of times, but only when I havnt let all the elements on the page download. Once they all downloaded the add link button works fine. The most I have ever had to wait was around 20 seconds, that was beacause our Internet gateway was slow. How long are you giving them to download?

I'm using the same version of ie that you are using.
