You should really consider another way to block spam. For example, having to enter a captcha to post a message, at least the first 25 messages or so. There are plenty captcha systems that suffice to keep out bots.

Didnt you notice the CAPTCHA on the way in when you registered? We dont get spammed by bots we get spammed by humans its gotten that bad..Sorry but the rule stays

Can't new users post URL's in [code][/code] tags? Last I checked they could?

shhhhhh... there are a few ways around it but the idea seems to be that only the semi-determined+ spammer will bother trying to suss them out, same with swearing ;¬)

A neat way to deal with spam would be to (1) verify it's a genuine spam message (not company B trying to screw company A) and then (2) DOS attack their server. Since those two are not easily implemented I'd say stick with the current system :¬)

Amen to that rendition. You're hearing a strong second from me. I went through and posted valuable links and IRC info for Python in that tips tricks thread only to find that it wouldn't be posted at all. Thanks for wasting my time. I suppose I should find out what I need to do in order to use the URL BBCode. Hopefully this will be enough.

URL's don't appear until you have at least 5 posts - currently you have 34 posts so your URL's should now appear when you enter them in your post.
