Petition to remove

This isn't your average I'm-so-funny-give-me-some-rep-lounge-thread, but this is a real question:
I would like C# to be removed from the description of the C Forum, which reads:
There is already a .NET forum which is where almost all of the C# programming questions are going but still sometimes we have some new user asking a C# question in the C programming forum. These questions hardly get any replies and are often ignored or get referred to the .NET forum.

Would an admin be so kind to remove it if possible?

People are going to get confused if C# is only allowed in the .NET forum.
I vote no.

I'd be thinking that if C# is popping up in the .net forum, then the mods either take it as being synoymous with .net, or there's not that much traffic in the C/C++ forum.

Either way, looks like this is one of those questions on evolutions of systems, me, couldn't give a rat's, and I'm not voting on the poll

I don't think any of us in C forum even know C#, so I'd say yes.

Well no, C# could be seen synonymous with the .NET forum, unless you want to talk about installing the .NET framework or the likes.

There is already a VB programming forum, and an ASP programming forum. ASP.NET could be done in any .NET language so it doesn't much matter which one. It's just a better seperation, where there is more clarity.

O and by the way, there is enough traffic in the C/C++ forum, lately posts seem to be growing incrementally.

Personally I voted to leave it in.

There is a difference between .NET and C#, granted the console C# is more like java than it is vanilla C, (and most like MFC or VC++) but console C# still belongs with the C forum in my opinion,

If I had a C# question I'm more likely to post in .NET than C, but I'm doing .NET right now, if I was working on console C# it would probablly depend on the nature of the question, but I could see it going in either.

The whole thing is getting very messy anyway. People who program c# do not necessarily know c(++) or vice a versa. The .NET forum should not be concerned with programming languages, only the IDe and general .NET framework. Similarly people who program VB.NET do not necessarily use visual studio.

Visual basic, the most popular programming language in the world gets its own forum, but VB.net, its sucessor has to share one with: the .net framework, C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET "and more". Everything to do with M$ and .NET has just been thrown in to one forum. As Mbircheimer pointed out, there is a differnce between c# and .NET. If C# isnt sufficiently related to the other c languages it should get its own forum.

This (though obviously it can't be a totally accurate indicator) suggests otherwise.

I've been coding for years and only used VB in a professional environment once. And it was because the customer knew one of his workers knew VB, and basically wanted to watchdog over our sholder.

Aside from students and very small projects I don't think it's used any more than the next language.

PS, plus I doubt you'd ever have a 'most popular language' that can't even run on *nix.
