Post Count Summary by Forum
This is somewhat of a vanity request, but it would be nice to be able to see a breakdown of how many of a user's posts (and percentage) are in each forum. Although, as a moderator, it could come in handy as a quick summary of a user's contribution.
I see this being placed somewhere in the user's profile, either as a separate, collapsable box similar to "Last Reputation Received",a link to a separate page similar to "Find all posts by ..." and "Find all threads started by ...", or a replacement for the "Group Memberships" box, which serves no purpose that I've ever seen. I would imagine the list would only show forums in which the user has at least one post, and look something like this (in a nice tabular form): Code:
PHP Development 1546 (23%) HTML Development 713 (11%)

Are you trying to bully the trolls into helping?
I don't necessarily object but i would object to putting too much weight by it, since the forums some of us tend to help out in tend to be low traffic. I know i come off as mostly a troll but of the forums i regularly help in combined, there isn't enough to be going at at the rate i post. Often I come in here and of the 20 forums i'm subscribed to, maybe 1 will have a new post that can be answered. So don't take it too seriously.

I just take my postcount, subtract 50, and assume that's all in the Lounge
But seriously, it would probably be fun to have and even handy for evaluating where a user spends most of his/her time, but it shouldn't be given too much weight. And there's always the potential for it to get personal if these stats are made public. "Well, what would *you* know, you Windows forum-dweller", or "Typical of a C programmer", or "Go back to the Lounge where you belong", etc..... I would recommend that users be able to view only their own stats (save mods of course).

That's getting close to actual content, the ratio slipping

This idea was conceived from personal interest, not moderation use. As I said, mostly vanity.
In terms of moderation, I would use it to get a quick idea of the history for a long time member with a relatively low post count who I haven't run into often enough to know their history. No one tool works for all moderation needs. |

I suppose for those purposes it would be acceptable. I just wouldn't want something like that in the hands of the every day user as b-con said. I also wouldn't want it to be used as a serious tool.

You could make all sorts of custom titles - e.g. is user has 50% of their posts in the "Windows Help" forum, then they're either a "windows power user" or "battling the evil empire, one installation at a time". 30% of your posts are in linux, then you're a penguinista!
Too much work though, but I for one would love to see what my post:forum ratio is. And BCons. --Simon

Yeah, I think it could be a handy statistical tool. If it was used in the proper way, and not just to tell who the trolls are...........not that we don't know that already !
