Not sure how necessary this is as most people would want that function at the bottom of the thread after they have read what is on their screen - I think it would simply add to the clutter of the page AND push down all the content.

Yeah, I guess you might be right.

It's just that when I'm browsing the threads using the "Next Thread" option, I sometimes come to threads I don't want to read, such as the "What are you listening to now" (for example). I want to skip to the next thread without having to go to the Forum page.

Maybe just << >>, then...

I agree with you too. I don't even bother using the next and previous links at the bottom. From the forum listing page I just open any threads I'm interested in to new tabs and forget about the rest.

Still, for the sake of 5 minutes work on the template it would be useful for me to have say "<<" and ">>" in the green bar along the top of the thread (with the thread tools in).. I don't use this feature much, but I do sometimes and tend to not use it for the fact I have to scroll a long way!
