vbulletin allows you to disable immediate reply count updating. On a forum the size of devshed that is a good idea. It means that the counts are only updated hourly (on a cron job) rather than every time a page is loaded which puts a lot of extra load on the database server.

Interesting.I thought it was just me
![]() This has happened to a few of my posts - there are a couple in the wap forums similar. When I posted the example shown, inititially my page didn't respond when I clicked the 'post quick reply' button. I tried a few times, nothing happened. The last time I pressed, it says that this was duplicate post. Ah, the joys of wireless networks ![]()

hmmmm i have to say i dont like that idea. I tend to look at the number of replies ot see if anyone has replied yet (to my posts) and if its > 0 then yes they have and i check it. I mean, sometimes i go to the usercp to see if anyone has replied and in some cases the topic titles are emboldend indication new posts but when i go to them, what do you know, there are no new posts.

Well I don't know if they actually do it. I was just giving the most logical solution to your query

sometimes the query doesnt go right through and the postcount update fails so that might cause it. happens sometimes too if they reindex the DB or something.
