How can one abuse a system that has no rules? I think the system works, though it is/was flawed at the beginning. With Dial-a-rep I think things will smooth over and stabilize whereas before the reps were escalating out of control.
If you want to look at the other end of the spectrum, DevH has only one triple greenie and maybe half a dozen doubles... they don't rep for nothin' over there. ![]() |

they also have a lot fewer members to fling rep around, fewer users and hence fewer threads and fewer posts. add that to the fact that the number of old users (as in users with rep points for the number fo years they were registered) is lower than here. hence their overall climb rate is going to be slow. since they have fewer posts, their rep power increase due to number of posts are also going to be less.
case in point: sep without his rep points would still have a rep power of 16. Last edited by oneMSBi : May 25th, 2005 at 02:37 PM. |

ok here is a theory about the rep system.
I'e been taking a good look at the memeber list sorted on rep, and i realised that most of those with high reps, myself included are lounge regulars. and probably get a lot of their rep there. But these same peopel are also the peopel with some of the highest online time here at devshed, and the ones quite active in the other forums, barring a few members. there are those in the other fourms who dont visit the lounge and do a good job though.. In many of the forums, especially those which are lest frequently visited, a lot of good work get done, but the only people who are there to rep the good helping souls are newbies without rep power. i think its a good thing, the new users dont have rep power. But i think the lounge rep is balancing this out to some extent. Besides the repped souls from the lounge can go and then spread the love in the other forums to those really harworking contributing members who dont have rep. now any feedback on this theory ? and before you guys ask, i'm online, bored and there is hardly any activity in the forums i troll ... ![]() |
