. . . and if it's being re-edited anyway, perhaps an `I don't care if it's reset' option should be added too.

I'm in, I like rep, but I think it's dominating the forums way too much. I say the admins own us all (and themselves) back to the stone age!

Can't make it public now, sorry. I have added the 3rd option though.

Moved from the Lounge.
I personally don't care if it gets reset. As Simon has mentioned several times in various threads, the people who are helpful and informative and polite and stuff will be known on the forums by what they do, not merely by having a lot of blobs. ![]()

I always just figured that it was a bit of fun and wasn't anything serious anyway.

I think the variable rep hack would go a long way toward reducing the abuse these forums have seen in the past, one of the reasons we championed the idea over on the hard side was to avoid what happened here.
Frankly, I don't think it will matter so much if the counters are reset, the people with high reps now are likely going to be the people with high reps after. I will be willing to have mine reset, however.

Most of the high-reppies got it from the lounge, and with little rep going to be spread in the lounge, enforced by one of the rules saying dont spread it pointlessly, I doubt it CAN happen again.

I'd venture to say that only about half of my rep has come from within the Lounge. Take that away, and I still have more rep than all but the top 14 highest repped people. Bottom line is that if you help out enough [in almost any of the other forums] you'll still get plenty of rep. |

[edit] Couple of thoughts: 1. what if they gave everyone a 0 start score so noone could rep each other? ![]() 2. Still split evenly I see.... Hmm.. this could go to penalties ![]() Last edited by LinuxPenguin : July 12th, 2005 at 02:57 PM. |
