The 60 second search
I was wondering how many people actually use the search on DSForums? I almost never use it because of the 60 second penalty. While I don't need to search very often, when I do, the 60 second delays are frustrating enough that I just don't search here at all. I'd prefer a different system where you get x number of searches a day or something. Imagine if Google made you wait a minute between searches. I understand the desire to conserve resources but is there a better way? And I don't mean igrep.

I don't mind it. When (that's right, when) I use the search here, if I need to search again, I'm almost always doing something else on my computer that I can switch to to kill a minute. It doesn't really bother me.
From what I understand, these searches are very intensive, hence the limit. Google doesn't have a limit 'cause they have plenty more servers and probably have a very different, very optimized back end.

The place it gets really annoying is if you use the `new posts` or `today's posts` features since they count as searches.
Since I only use my UserCP nowadays, i'm not too fussed. Incidentally, I remember Chief talking about this. He said it's only worth searching once you're a mod (and therefore the limit is removed). Perhaps regular users could get a lower time or something?

We are going to lower this to 15 seconds, we should have this done in the next hour or so. J
