The future of forums.ds?
What is in the future for the Dev Shed Forums? Redesign? New boards? XHTML valid index?
I've been coming to Dev Shed for a while, and it just seems like nothing is happening... Other than some new little features, that, in my opinion, aren't all that great. I don't want to sound ungrateful, I love DS... It just seems like nothing is happening to make DS any better than the next dev forum. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I guess a start would be to put in a request. I personally think its one of the better designed forums out there. Good layout, good color scheme that doesnt kill my eyes, nifty little things like rep, belts, etc. Only thing I dont like is the igrep bar, seems useless to me.

I couldn't care less and if in 10 years it is exactly the same design then I'm fine too.
What is important is content and quality of posters. This site has them in spades!

There have been a great number of 'hacks' implemented on these forums - I think it will be a while before anything major changes again. As for XHTML validity - well the pages work OK and they are so huge that browsing them on anything other that a real web browser (not phone or PDA etc) isn't viable anyway.
I didn't like the color scheme when it was first introduced, but you get used to it... I do continue to dislike the belts system - have then adblocked. Otherwise I think it is a really good forum and I am suprised how many features are missing from similar forums that I am a member of.. I say good work - Dev Shed developer guys!!  PS: This may be better in the suggestions and feedback forums.(thoughts?) PPS: What I would really like to see in these forums is the reduction of trolling and pointless posting

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with thr format of these boards as it is. Maybe in a year or two or three they might need some changes, but as they are, perfect !

By the way folks, if you don't like the colour scheme, tough st*ff.
j/k  Seriously, the admins said a while ago, if anyone comes up with a better design [by that I just mean the colours] by only changing the CSS, and we all agree on it, they will change it for us. TBH though, who cares about the colours/layout? As long as the content is good, deal with it.
