Useful stuff cache
maybe its' something that already exists and i haven't found it yet, but wouldn't it be nice to have a small personal cache for useful links, pieces of code etc. so that it's easier to find an item that may have been posted months ago without having to trawl through hundreds of posts ?
i haven't been in this forum that long yet so i know i don't have to go back further than the 12th of june + i don't have that many posts / threads to go through yet, but the day will come soon enough when a search becomes somewhat more complicated |

Some forums have something like that, the mod for which is usually referred to as a personal notepad, or such.
I've had need for something like that too, but I just created my own webpage for it. A simple PHP script, text file, and <textarea>* gives you your own online notepad ![]() * Or <div> depending on your style.

When searching you have two ways to go, igrep and the vBulletin search, both of which are quick and accurate (dunno about the #searches/min limitation, probably to avoid a DoS on the DB)
You can use Google bookmarks, or your own browsers bookmarks, there is a facility called myLinks, which you can add stuff to, but personally I find that a little impractical ... loads of potential ![]()

If you go into your UserCP, there is a an option in the 'Edit Options'
section called 'My Links' - you can add stuff in there and you will see a blue drop-down at the top of the forum index page with those links in.
