Viewing specific user profiles.
What's the easiest way to view a users profile given their user name? The search feature in the members list area does not seem to work (searching for a member name always takes me right back to the first page of the list). The best I could come up with was doing a regular forum search for all posts by a given member, then going to their profile via the results.

peenie is accomplished by wrapping the username in [member] tags, don't forget the closing [ /member] tags without the space

What is it with you and checking out members profiles !
Seriously - what are you finding wrong with the search function?

I can't help it! WRT search function: 1) Click "Members" at top of site. 2) Click "Search Members" arrow. 3) Type member name in box that appears. 4) Press "Go". 5) The page reloads and I am taken right back to the master member list (regardless of what letter I was looking when I searched). Does not matter what web browser I am using. |

The member list search has not worked on DS for as long as I can remember. The admins disabled it for whatever reason. You can, however, search for members on the advanced search page. Simply type in the username and check or uncheck the 'exact match' checkbox accordingly.

That would make sense then; maybe the link should be removed if it's disabled? That's probably a vBulletin (as opposed to DS) issue, though.

I just hit up /member.php?username=<whatever> if I care to look at someones profile. Tis about the quickest way to do it. You could even make a bookmarklet if you want to do it often:
Just bookmark: Code:
javascript:location.href='http://forums.devshed.com/member.php?username='+prompt('Who do you want to spy on today?', '');
