What do you mean?
The other thread was closed so I couldn't really ask:

What do you mean? Is there anything wrong with a user cleaning up the stupidity s/he made? |

The user wasn't cleaning up stupidity, they were editing their old posts, removing the content and replacing it with profanity.

WJK, after 30 days it's a bit late, World War III (IV, V) may have broken out
![]() The problem is not with "cleaning", it's with "dirtying" 30 days is loads an idea check your posts before posting, or buy Nigel a tall beer, and give him your list of edits ![]()

I personally want to clean up/delete some of my stupidity, but I can't apparently. I either have to beg to the mods, or wish that I become one. First one seems easier.

no need to beg the mods, as per Rich's post it's part of the mods job, so just tell them, now if you are editing your 1.8k posts then they might really not want to help you, also remember that you don't really need to edit out your stupidity, it shows how much you've changed if you can see how it was before and what you are doing now

30 days seems a reasonable amount of time to edit your posts. The only time I can recall I ever dug back very far to remove content was in answer to a very good question in VB forum. Until someone else asked the identical question verbatim! Had they searched the forum first they would have directly found the answer to their homework. Instead, I searched the forum before they did and removed the answer to their homework problem, then probably posted some insinuating remark ...

I'm editting the parts where I had my name, and to much of your pleasure/not-pleasure, I wish to delete the "What are you listening to right now?" thread.

hmmm... i dont think you could do that. even if i did knick the first post of your thrad, the first reply post would become the head of the thread.
Oh and pmam21, there several several people who have quoted and mentioned your name in their posts.. like i did just there think about it .

Last time I had a right to delete threads, the whole thread was gone when the first post was. Trust me. Test it on some crappy thread. pmam21's fine. It's just my real name that's a problem. I used to put WJK in the end of each posts before I had a signature. Signature is easy to modify, but each posts are hard. I realize this is a hard task. I'd do it myself, but this whole thread was created because I can't. If I can edit my own posts, only thing you could help me with is thing like Ax's post that included "WJK." |

From past experience, deleting the first post deleted the whole thread. If you want to excise just that one entry, you would have to use the split option.

hmm.. ok i checked.. it only wipes the thread if you delete the post using the "edit post> delete this post" method.
if you do it the moderator way (select delete posts from the thread tools menu), and choose to drop particluar posts from a thread it doesnt seem to wipe the thread even if the first post is dropped. Anyways if you want pmam21, just let me know , and get out my whip and tackle all your posts in that thread. But dont expect me to do it all at once. |
