Whats the point of Reputation?
Hi All,
I have been a member on here for a while and help people out when I can, ask q's myself and whatnot. I recently start collecting a very modest amount of reputation which was kinda cool. People thanking me for help was nice. But then I did something (I'm still not sure what) and 2 people were able to remove my reputation completely. STOP HERE - I AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED!! I am just curious about something. It can take a little bit of time to accrue some reputation. In my case a few months of posting in my spare time. But then, in almost an instant it can be taken away. It seems like there is an imbalance. While I may (or may not) have deserved the negative reputation, I dont think I deserve to have all the reputation that I have received for helping and contributing to others be removed. Basically, whats the point of having it when its obvious that it really doesn't assist people in gaining any idea of your contributions to the forum, unless you have a lot more spare time than me and can spend more time on the forums and build up copious amounts. Anyway, as I stated above, this isn't a complaint or a rant.. I'm seriously just curious. Christian

Rep it a toy, like a rattle or a Power Ranger
Quote:
I bet you anything I have in my room that a majority (51% >) of rep that the high reppers have is from the Out House and the rest from posting in actual forums. As I said, it is all fun, nothing serious. I personally dislike the rep thing because most of the rep I have is from total batsh!t crazy posts.

Hi Ryon,
I think that was my first mistake, thinking it was at least a semi serious tool for seeing who contributes etc. I now realise that its not serious at all. Thanks for the reply. Christian |

Rep is not a toy! I could be on my dying bed, but if I had enough rep, it would give me the will to live! |
