zeus.developershed.com is junk!

I don't know if someone is trying to reuse an old 386 machine or something but whatever zeus.developershed.com is it is always the last thing I'm waiting on when doing a page load. I've adblock'd it and things seem to still work ok, but I think devshed needs to retire it and soon.

i believe its the new ad server. I think the admins are still in the process of setting it up. Remember that ads are the reason devshed can remain open and free for you.
While i agree it seems slow at the moment, i dont think its making devshed unbearably slow. I'm on a 56k dialup with an average throguhput of 5kbps... and i seem to manage.

The forums have been really quick for me over the last week or so, and I'm not blocking any adverts. There's always a tiny wait for zeus.developershed.com once the page has almost loaded, but it's not very long at the moment.

Hey anyone notice that http://zeus.developershed.com points to a part-finder website? And that sites links to Jamsoft where the about page is written by Rich. Interesting stuff...

We have recently made some significant upgrades to our ad server as well as all of our sites which should speed things up considerably.

hey , i am using Airtel GPRS on my Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone, On internet explorer the DS sites loads very slowly, and yeah i sometimes feel like crazy monkey sitting in front of mirror and trying to configure out who am i, but soon i moved to OPERA 7 and found the incredible and sudden change in my internet surfing speed. hey Opera has fixed all my problems. it loads faster, and i can now access all the dev shed sites very smoothly.

but i have another problem with Opera and that is i can't give repotation to anyone, whenever i click on the repo link it gives an error, "Invalid link specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster"

and another problem i am facing is i am not able to have an Avatar or a Signature. is there any special procedure for that ? am i not eligible for that yet ? do i have to get an Esupport ticket ? is it really necessary or can any moderator help ?

you need to read the FAQ's atop the page for info as to why you do not have an avatar or sig

if you have a firewall (especailly nroton it will interfere with the reputation, because of blocked referrers)

and the reason IE is slow is becuase i think it has a problem with unzipping on the fly.. not sure though...

i did checked the FAQ, rules, and all the stuff earlier also. According to the Restricted User Policy "Until you have been a member at the forums for 90 days and made 100 posts, you will be a restricted user."

But i am 1 year oldy member of DS and yeah have above 99 posts.. but i am not able to upload the avatar and the Signature. i did checked all this sir, thats why i asked this question here.

I've had problems with ads.* and zeus.* before that have forced me to block them, also. When you're having the troubles described, there is an extremely long wait... the site is not usable. I recall that the problem was traced down to my ISPs DNS servers, though, and not a DS issue.

I have everything unblocked now and Adblock set to "hide" and the site is operating very quickly.
