    chown, syntax and such

i dont' get the chown thing

how do i create groups and set owners in the first place?

    can i change folder owner?

what would be an example of chaning folder owner.

say in ftp. there's a user. if i change the owner of that user's folder. will s/he still be able to log in? cause the way it is now i cant' delete or see any files in that person's folder.

    if youcould help

    thank you

/etc/group - where all your groups are
You can just open this file and edit it to add new groups. The last field is who's
in the group and a user doesn't have the permissions of the group unless s/he
logs in after the /etc/group file is updated, ie, group permissions are loaded at login time.

As for how to use chown and chmod, etc, you may want to read this .
