DT Messaging Error
Hey guys, I'm back for your useful advice once again!
We've had a machine running Solaris 9 here for a few weeks now, it's pretty much brand new, and they just moved it into my office yesterday. Well, yesterday, the only thing I did to it was add my user account to the system...and mind you, this took a long time, since I've NEVER used Solaris before. Though, I don't think the machine was even touched aside from that. I came in today to find that something's wrong with it, whenever we try to login (as anyone, root or non) we get the following error message that I'm pretty clueless about. "The DT messaging system could not be started. To correct the problem: 1. Click ok to return to the login screen 2. Select Failsafe Session from the login screen's option menu and login 3. Check to see that the hostname is correct in these locations: 4. Check to see any magic cookie related error messages in these locations" Clicking ok to the message will automatically log you out. It seems we can login to the Gnome 2.0 desktop without the error message (We're trying to use CDE 1.5), though we still can't ping the machine at all. What do you think? |

We got it!!
Turned out we never made the IP address static, but we assigned one in the hosts file, and when we moved the machine it grabbed another IP address, then the two had conflicted. Thanks anyway! ![]() |
