elased seconds

hey guys,
how does one get the number of elapsed seconds for a particular time(not the current time) ?? Say i have a timestamp 14:34:02(hh:mm:ss) how do i get the elapsed seconds since 1970.

Use the time() function ....

The time() function returns the time in seconds since the
Epoch. The Epoch is referenced to 00:00:00 UTC
(Coordinated Universal Time) 1 Jan 1970.

you need a least perl or c to use functions of time family.
mktime() (a libc function) will answer your Q.
