Hi,
I am very new to shell scripting, infact I have never used it before. Now for one of my projects I need to do the following using a shell script: 1. Copy the files from Unix server to NT server as and when they arrive in the directory of Unix server. 2. When copying the files, the destination files should be renamed to *.txt for the NT server. 3. Capture the log of the FTP session, check for successful Transmission. If the FTP is successful, then on the unix machine move the particular file to another directory. If FTP is unsuccessfull, then send an email with the contents of the log to the Distribution list. 4. Repeat the process for the next file till that directory is empty. TIA, Akhil |

your mam sure sant you to store with a LIST (and money)
buy milk, bread, ... spaghetti and cigarets (why not ?) you are mam, ftp your child send ftp to remote, left it make a list, collect it work on it (local) resend ftp with the list to remote collect what's on the list come back, compare the list with the listING of what you received. if ok send child to remote and move or remove what's on the list if not, make a diff (if you are able) else restart the whole process finally, rename locally your files. i did the job using ssh2 tuneling and ncftp (very reliable) i cannot (re)do it for free ![]() |
