hey guys I am trying to install jpeg on my solaris 5.8 box. it configures fine but when i run make I get these erros

make: ar: Command not found
make: *** [libjpeg.a] Error 127

anyidea whats wrong am I missing some library?

I dont have gcc installeted but cc is there

Under Solaris 8 you'll want to make sure that /usr/ccs/bin is on your path. You should take a look at that directory first to make sure you've got that package installed (it is considered optional).
