Moving around in Vi.....
Hi folks,
Does anyone know if there any way that settings can be changed to allow the use of the arrow keys on the keyboard rather than having to use the keys 'H', 'J', 'K', and 'L' to navigate in Vi ?? This is in AIX Version 5.2. I don't think there is, but any info would be appreciated. ![]() |

Pretty sure the eumlator is CommNet32. Guessing that the settings would actually be in CommNet rather than in AIX itself then ? |

well..... it seems that you're connecting to a box with either telnet and/or ssh? when you do connect, what is your TERM env. variable set to? echo ${TERM} |

i am not a partisan of arrows
a) i started w/ vi on dump-terminals: no arrows, no mouse b) hjkl work on any kb, w/ any OS, win-mgr and $TERM setting c) the arrow-escapes always cause errors in input-mode (*) d) it's only a matter of (small) habit. (*) a lot of people (not checking: vi is not a dos editor) use them in input-mode ![]() my probl: again and again i use vi cmds in notepad ![]() ![]() ![]() |
