Smile Protocols on Solaris box

Hi All..

Just got into this forum when i was looking for help on google...I as much as newbie to Unix as i am to this forum..but my job demands that I work with Solaris boxes ....so i will be needing the help of all you in here....enough of my crap...now to my question,

how do i find out what kind of Protocols my Unix server supports ?

i am having SunOs 5.8 ...

Have you ever administered any kind of *nix server before? I presume you mean you want to find out what's running on your box. In that case, type ps -xa and paste the output here. We can probably go from there.

Actually I was going through Connectirect user guide and came to know that it works with TCP:IP and SNA protocols....I was curious to find out what kind of protocols my Solaris server supports...

well ps -xa didnt work ...however ps -a gave the following ouput.

Yes...I havent administered a server before...I was only an user before...but a team of sys adms had to leave and I nominated myself to take care of their work...'coz Unix adminstration has always attracted me and i want to become one !

/etc/services and /etc/protocols are good places to look.
Also do a netstat-a.
