Running programs through Unix

I'm new to all this. I'm using terminal on my mac, which I think uses basically unix. I'm trying to set operate ImageJ.app through terminal. I can open imageJ and .lsm files through terminal but am not sure how to open a .lsm file in ImageJ using terminal. How do i do this?
