Shell email script Irix after rsync

I am need to create a shell script that runs as a cron job that will perform an rsync and send the log of changes to the sysadmin. I've got the cron job working no problem with a simple rsync -av src dest command, it's grabbing the output and emailing it that is the problem. Doing a man Mail does not provide any help in how to pipe a output stream into it. Any ideas would be helpful.
