to Extend the number of chars in a unix variable
Hi,
I need to know if it is possible to extend the number of characters in a unix variable. I know that the masimum number of char that i can put in a variable is 255. How can I increase the number of char that i can put in a variable? Thanks. |

What kind of variable are you talking about, an environment variable, a C-Shell variable, a perl variable, a C variable?
The only language I've ever heard of imposing a 255-character limit in a string variable is older implementations of pascal. |
