UNIX user Screen

Hi Friends,
I am using a tool ...which makes some screen to come up..The screens are in user mode or Black screens...

Please note I am not talking of GUI...

The screens have option like type 1 for Installation of X..
type 2 for Installation of Z..

But the screens are not coming as they should be....
they are coming with /t /n etc characters ....they are not coming as screens..

Earlier the tool was used for UNIX AIX ..It was working fine...
Now I am using it for Red Hat Enterprise Server...
I have also changed the dafult shell ..it was earlier ksh in UNIX AIX ...
So I have made the default shell as korn shell in Red Hat also...
I have to resolve this ....coz its the core of my problem I think..
