Want a help in KShell

Hello friends,
I am using Solaris. I have a userID(not have the root previlage) which is using kshell. But i did not able to use "<Esc> k" or "<Esc> j" for retrive the previous commands.
can anybody help me to enable this <Esc>.

Question

Thanks for the reply.
One thing, i want to enable the "showmode" in vi editor automatically. i.e after logging whenever i will use the vi editor (e.g vi abc.txt) it will display in which mode i am in now(i did not want to set the mode every time when i open a vi editor).

In your .exrc file of your login (home) directory append the following lines...

(if u don't have that file create that file)

set showmode


Similary you can add similar commands to the file .exrc for your vi editor....
