data report use
I'll admit right up front that vb is not my language, and I'm basically clueless about it. Anyway, I'm trying to make a data report to display certain information from a database, so that the report (or something like it?) can be attached to an email and later printed. My "Step by Step with Visual Basic 6.0 Professional" book doesn't seem to mention data reports at all, and I don't know how to use them. I've made my data environment and command, and bound my text fields to the desired records, but now what? I'm not looking for a specific answer so much as some links to some good resources. Google is not very helpful when you have no idea what you're looking for, lol. Anything about basic data report construction and usage would be very helpful. Thanks for helping my learning process .

The online MSDN can be useful. Maybe you should narrow your beginnings and attempt to prose a question.

Ok, now I have a better handle on things, and the question is:
Can a data report be attached as a viewable file to an email?
I can make a data environment, command, and datareport. What I need to do is take information from a database and populate some fields in a form, with some other fields remaining blank. All fields need to be labeled. This form then is attached and sent via email. I tried to do this with an excel sheet via asp, but couldnt make the connection work. Thus, I am trying to do a similar thing with a data report instead. This may not be the clearest question, I can clarify as needed (I hope).

Summary: I need to make a form with some fields containing data from a database (gotten from an internet form), then attach the form to an email. Can a data report do this? (via export perhaps?)

The data report has export functionality. You can do this.

Ok, final question. I've made a data report and environment. I bound the appropriate fields to the right values. Now I'm just having a problem making empty fields. When I do "datareport1.show" to check things, I get "Error: Datafield'(empty)' not found". How would I go about adding empty fields to the report? (preferably with borders, like excel cells)

You can either create static entries in the query or just create an empty text box or label in the report.
