Get input file name usign file browser
I'm writing a scripts to read input data from a file. The file name and path are defined in the scripts.
How to use file browser to get the input file name instead of using pre-defined file name? Somebody may come across this already ... help needed. Thanks. I'm using VB in Excel. -Chen |

Take a look at the common dialog control. I think it's in VBA, I use it in VB6

Thanks for the replies. I'll try it.
Do you think it applies for Excel macros? |

Actually this is a little tricky because in VBA the common dialog control isn't quite like the VB version. The problem is that it will load the file automatically instead of just setting the filename property of the object.

If I use open dialog, I'll get file opened without getting the name, as Onslaught said. So, this won't work.
I don't understand quite well what Cleverpig suggested, would Cleverpig be more specific in your suggestion? Thanks. |
