    While this is true ...

    Gmail doesn't recognize dots as characters within usernames, you can add or remove the dots from a Gmail address without changing the actual destination address; they'll all go to your inbox, and only yours. In short:

    homerjsimpson@gmail.com = hom.er.j.sim.ps.on@gmail.com
    homerjsimpson@gmail.com = HOMERJSIMPSON@gmail.com
    homerjsimpson@gmail.com = Homer.J.Simpson@gmail.com
    ... I don't know where you are going with this. I can't fathom any possible reason why your app would need this, on the simplest level I'd just strip all dots out of any gmail and be done with it (for example if you're trying to detect duplicates).

    such as

    Code:
    Function CureGmail(UserEmail As String) As String
        Dim eSplit() As String
        eSplit = Split(LCase(UserEmail), "@")
      ' ^ split email on @ to separate domain from email addy
        If UBound(eSplit) = 1 Then
            If eSplit(1) = "gmail.com" Then
              ' replace all "." with nothing in first half of email
                eSplit(0) = Replace(eSplit(0), ".", "")
            End If
            CureGmail = eSplit(0) & "@" & eSplit(1)
        Else
            CureGmail = UserEmail
          ' ^ if not gmail then return original value
        End If
    End Function
    If you passed your email to that it would strip all the "." out of the first part of gmail addresses only, so homer.j.simpson@gmail.com become homerjsimpson@gmail.com but homer.j.simpson@msn.com would remain homer.j.simpson@msn.com

    That's seems silly to me. There's nothing "secret" about these since it's explained right in Google's FAQs. But ...

    What you are looking to code is a permutation algorithm, you can probably adapt an example easily found on the web.

    Gmail is the Web-based email service developed by Google, offering features such as conversation threads, message labels and automatic spam filtering. It does not include a built-in tool for receiving email receipts from others, though you can send your own email receipts via the auto-responder function. Use third-party software to receive confirmation that your message has reached its target.
