Thumbs up Ms Outlook With Vb/Vba and Serial Port communication

I wanted to know the possible ways or communicating with msoutlook and vb/vba , with the lcd device, using serial port.

I want to know if its possible to design the appointment system in ms outlook to store information, importantant dates and times etc.
but using some vba is it possible can you help please...if not, advice or suggestion ....

Im starting a project is to allow people to make an appointment to see me, to leave a message via a keyboard and display mounted on or near the my door. I have the display a small text-only LCD (e.g. 2 lines of20 characters) that i want ,interfaces to the serial port of the PC. The keyboard outside the my door, would be a standard PC keyboard connected to a dedicated PC inside the my room. This is be an old machine running and would send the data from the keyboard to the serial port of the main PC.

I would enter times that im avaliable for appointments into the calendar in Microsoft Outlook running on his or her office PC. When a someone wishes to make appointment via the keyboard and display outside the door, he or she would be able to see a list of free times and select one. This appointment would then appear on the calendar in Microsoft Outlook on my PC. This project will involve programming in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

can any one help me please, or any idea where i can start?
i downloaded lcdc for the programming of the lcd but, not sure because im new to this area of lcd and vba...

serial port and com ports have to be used i think not sure...
with regards
thanks URL
