    ActiveX Problem

I have coded small programs here and there using VB for about a year now, but one thing that I want to get into is ActiveX - a program that loads when you go to a website. Whenever I google for a tutorial on how to, all I come up with are REALLY out of date sites, or tutorials on how to make controls to put on forms.

So how do I code something to load when my website loads, and all that.

Could someone please point me in the right direction.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/191039/EN-US/, looks to be a very good start for learning about using Server Applications, it doesn't seem to talk much about ActiveX. I havn't seen many online tutorials for this, I saw one in a book, maybe this link will help, http://www.programmersheaven.com/.

Thanks, but I just went through that entire tutorial and hit another dead end. The problem is that it won't work on my server b/c when I deploy it, it deplots as an ASP file, and my sever is not windows nor does it handle ASP.

I have this running on it now, which I THINK is an activeX
    http://www.1024server.us/rd/

The active x is installed and run by the index.php file, which used to be index.html, but I added some code and had to give it the php extension. THIS IS MORE COMPLEX THAN I EVER WANT TO GET, but it is the only example I have to show how I want it to work.

At the most I will be loading up forms and maybe using FileSystemObject.

Thanks again you guys are helping me a lot.

I don't know too much about ActiveX and considering the fact that you do not have Microsoft Windows and ActiveX Controls are made by Microsoft (I think thats correct), it may not work like it should on your computer. What OS do you have?

No I am running windows on my computer, but I am not running it on the server I am deploying the activex on. I already have an activex running on that server but it is not one I coded.

Well, I'm not sure what exactly is causing the errors, it's possible that thye server should be windows as well. You could try another forums site, vbforums.com, botdev.valhallalegends.com are both great sites.
