408 Error from WAP Site
Hi All,

Quick question. I keep getting a 408 error when trying to download a ringtone from my WAP site after it is pushed to the phone. Now I know that 408 is a Request Timeout error, but what is strange is after I click retry on the phone the tone downloads. Any idea as to why I might be getting this error.

Hi,

Did a little googling, and came up with this. I wouldn't know how to solve the issue, sorry, unless you can do something with the solution in the page listed:

408 errors are often difficult to resolve. They typically involve one-off variations in system workload or operations.

If you see persistent 408 errors, the first thing to consider is the workload on your Web server - particularly around the time the 408 errors were generated. If this is light, then you also need to consider workload on the client system. If the computer systems on both ends of the socket connection seem to be running normally, then temporary Internet surges may be to blame.

Or is it GPRS / WAP DNS running slower than a broadband provider's DNS, maybe the timeout is the GPRS server performing the DNS lookup and the second request is using cached DNS.

Not sure if that could be but Jamie knows his stuff and wil be able to offer more insight.
