Changing midi tags and copyrights

when I make ringtones from midis and upload them to my phone, all i see as song name is a stupid combination of letters.
file name doesnt have any effect on that.
Does someone know how to change it to the song name?
one more thing- does anyone know how to change the ringtone attribute to protected from sending it from one mobile phone to another?

When I've downloaded ringtones (on numerous phones) from our platform the file name shows on the handset so I can't relate to that problem. If a file is called xyz.mid it should show up on the phone as xyz.mid then the user can rename it whatever they want. I posted spmidi and mmf specs somewhere on this board though, they might help.

From my understanding of it the only way you can stop people from sending a ringtone to another phone is to use DRM (Digital Rights Management) this will allow you to set permissions on the file to disable forwarding and so on but it's not supported by all handsets.

You can find out which phones support it by checking the content accept variable the handset gives, it should be okay with DRM if the application/vnd.oma.drm.message and application/vnd.oma.drm.rights attributes are present

The Open Mobile Alliance have more info on DRM - Good look though.... Let us know what you decide to do.

Not at the moment because it's not supported by all handsets that support polyphonics and it's too much work for what it's worth. In other words I'd rather do something more viable than spend days looking through specs to sort it out!

I just found out that new Nokia phones have forward-lock enabled which means the ringtone can't be forwarded to another phone.

From what I know this only applies to .mid files though.

Hope this helps
