Creating wireless application php, unix, apache

Hi,

I am a php programmer. I am pretty familiar with xml, and now I would like to set up a way for users on cell phones to view my website via wap, wml.

I understand how wml works, but what are the things I should pay attention to?

I have read a few articles from 2002 about wml....Have the "things" changed since then?

I want to provide a personal trainer listing on cell phones, pdas and other wireless devices.

I have FreeBSD, Apache 1.3, Php, Perl, Mysql.

Please point me to the right direction.

In some ways no, in others yes. xHTML is the newish thang, many phones support it, so you can now have colorful interfaces.

If you are just creating lists and simple stuff, no actual interaction, then with your background it will the the proverbial PoP

I am familiar with xHTML. But how do I let the "phone" know that it should get the "phone" version of my site as opposed to my html website.

I would like to have some interaction. I want the user to use his phone or pda to search for personal trainers in a certain zipcode.

I want an form with one text field for zip code adn then want to print out results.

I am familiar with wml but what else should I consider doing to get the best outcome and wide audience?
