There are no limits for your forum to grow as long as you follow all our rules.

Do people still actually develop "wap" sites anymore?...are there still phones in use (in the US) that can't display xhtml?
IMO "mobile" (mobi) is the word! If WAP is not dead it's dying...

I am talking about wap 2.0 (xhtml + css) which is the way .mobi is created or am I wrong? I am not talking about wap 1.0 anywhere.

So why didn't you get a .mobi domain then

Sorry, but what's the difference? ;] The content should matter, not domain name (it's only name).

Has anyone tried to check the system?

dotmobi is promoting itself that when you have .mobi the site will work on mobile phones.
.org is supposed to be for organizations.

I don't necessarily agree with that sentiment, but thats the way they are.
Haven't tested because I don't want to register to a site that most of the posts seems to be not in English, sorry.

However, it seems quite functional from a web browser.
You are sending the content as text/html although you have application/xhtml+xml in the meta and my browser accepts that content type..

Well, most people sadly confuse two different registrations.. ;/ One is used to register a forum (which is what I am promoting).. When you get a forum (example: wapforums.org/wap), you can administrate & manage it (have your own users, topics, posts, etc). Also there is a seperate registration in each of those forums and you only have to register here if you wish to become user of that forum, that's all. I hope that helps.. It won't hurt if you would try to register a forum (even if you won't use it).

I may consider registering a .mobi domain because it looks that people care about it.

But wap sites have been around far longer than .mobi domains, i have been building them for about 5 years, i have a few .mobi domains now yes, but it really makes little difference.. well thats my opinion anyway

I have been making wap sites for about the same amount of time.

The one main advantage of .mobi is that the damn operator transcoders should leave the pages in tact!

Really???????? I have never had ANY problems with any domain (assuming site is headered and coded correctly)..

I have a few busy wap sites with .com, .ws, .in, .mobi etc.. and never any compliants from the non .mobi domains...

Any domain should work like any other, IE: if i make a WEB site on a .mobi domain you will be able to access it just as a .com domain...

Of course it should work,
but whether it is transcoded or not is up to the Gods (operators in this case)..
