Hi,
Im developing an appilication that handles multiple MMS API's. But due to MMS being a fairly new technology in my country (South Africa), most people use WAP. How do commercial companys store their wap content (ringtones, images etc)? I was thinking about storing the folders and storing the location in a DB Thanks for any guidance :P |

We've got 9957 polyphonic tones in numerous formats, we store the artist, title, category, producer, number of sales, publisher and a load of other info for reporting royalties in a batabase and keep the files in seperate directories. The files we have are mp3 preview, spmidi, 4 channel midi, MSAF-MA2 and SMAF-MA3 so keeping all those files as blobs in the DB would make it huge!
Even though MMS is pretty funky, not all networks support it, many networks charge interconnect fees for cross network delivery and not all networks support delivery reports on MMS so for us it's not viable hence we'll stick to WAP for the timebeing. MMS for now is a bit like SMS was a few years ago, any excuse to get a few more pence per message......
