imode
O2 in the UK have just launched i-mode and there is a big spend on advertising to entice users into it.
Has anyone here got an i-mode site? If so please post the links so we can all have a look. Also, should this part of the forum also have a section dedicated to i-mode and chtml? Thoughts please! Cheers

I voted no, as XHTML MP is different from WML, in the same way as cHTML is different to WML - it is only a compact version
![]() I don't have an i-Mode site yet, but I am sure a bit of tweaking to the browser detect function I have on site will make that possible soon ![]() Just done a quick scan for i-mode emulators online: linky Viewing my test page that looks for $_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT'], it comes up with this Code:
image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, */*

From what I've seen in the accept / user agent logger we have running on our wap site there is about five handsets that mention chtml in the accept. it was a few days ago when i checked this out but they were big name phones in mass circulation.
mainly thai, malaysian and korean ips. we don't get much traffic from there but we are working on getting a shortcode setup in malaysia in the coming months so when that comes i will have more data to work with rather than the limited results i have right now i like that emulator, thanks for the link |

Base on a similar thread about detecting wap devices, the short codes, eg: 4 first letters of the user_agent, that I could find and am now searching for are as follows:
PS: Did basic integration into my script in about 5 mins, now have the basics in WML, CHTML, MHTML and full blown HTML and XHTML ![]() |

What is the need for another standard, we've got xhtml and wml that's enough for mobiles, chtml doesn't seem to offer anything over the two, I'm sure chtml came out before xhtml, so why is imode using it?

No idea why - except that iMode has actually been around for quite a while.
Only thing about not apapting something for iMode is the fact that there are 45 million subscribers apparently and of course emoji - thought that seems pretty lame. |
