clickatell
Good thread...
Clickatell are quite handy, I've used them now for about a year and don't have any complaints. Each message is sent in credits, Most European networks are charged at 1.5 credits which works out at about 5p depending on how many credits you purchase! They have a web based app and a standalone called messanger pro which I prefer to use... text, Binary, HEX values and the like can be used for sending logo's, tonez, vCards, push messages etc.. They are well worth checking out if you need a reliable sms gateway! |

Just had this come through from a supplier:
As you may know, the messaging environment in the USA is still quite different from Europe, specifically in the degree of involvement in each and every SMS service by the carriers. The carriers already individually approve each new Premium SMS service and require it to be run through a common short code. Now the move is to require approval of non-premium SMS services as well, and insist that every SMS, whether premium or not, is associated with an approved short code. This week all T-Mobile traffic not on customer short codes was interrupted. We expect several other carriers to follow suit. Today we will be implementing a short term solution for the routing of messages to T-Mobile, however this will only be supported until January 31, 2005. We therefore ask you review the policy change outlined below and take immediate steps to prevent further interruption to your MT traffic. - If your traffic is related to a previously approved PSMS service, you may use your existing short code. No action is required. - If your MT traffic is not related to a PSMS program you must obtain a common short code. You can work directly with the CSC administrator at www.usshortcodes.com or lease via MX Telecom. - Service Approval Forms detailing existing and new services for which you wish to obtain a short code must be submitted to MX Telecom for onward submission to the carriers. - MX Telecom will support all allowable originator addresses until January 31, 2005, after which time only short code originator addresses will be supported. |

Anything can be done, it's down to you to find the supplier which suits your needs best. There's a huge sms prospect list here to go through.

but there's no way to find out from a site which supplier they are using unless you can trace shortcodes or numbers.....

This list goes on and on
Is this list updated? I want a new list with prices and which operators are supported, takes to much time to check out everyone by myself!

andymoo: the dodgeball guy got back to me and said he's not actually using SMS and shortcodes. he said he's using perl and php to take in the email and peforming actions depending on the keywords in the message... any ideas how i can get started with that?
